BOISE -- Rescuers had to carry a man down to safety after he fell while rock climbing near the Lucky Peak Diversion Dam just off State Highway 21 around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Boise firefighters said the man, described as being in his mid-30s, was climbing when his equipment failed, causing him to fall around 35 feet.

It took about an hour for rescuers to get him to safety and load him onto an ambulance.

KTVB is told he was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and was in stable condition with a broken leg.
