BOISE -- Firefighters responding to the scene of house fire in southwest Boise found neighbors with a garden hose trying to help put the flames out.

The home on Mobile Drive near Cole and Victory roads caught fire around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Neighbors who noticed smoke and flames called 911 and then tried to help stop the flames.

They also had a hose line stretched trying to do something before we got here, said Boise Fire battalion chief Jake Ellis.

No one was home when the fire broke out.

Firefighters say the home suffered heavy smoke damage.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen or living room.

Investigators are now looking into what caused the fire.
