BOISE -- A local woman is taking Idaho brewers' concerns to the nation's capitol.

In just a few weeks, Sheila Francis is heading to Washington, D.C., to support legislation that could affect many businesses in Idaho.

The law is known as the Small Brew Act.

If passed, it would change how much a brewery must pay in federal taxes for each barrel of beer they produce.

Francis is the president of Idaho Brewers United, and marketing director of Payette Brewing Company.

She tell us for smaller breweries, like many throughout our area, the bill would cut taxes in half.

We are small businesses grown in Idaho, we use a ton of Idaho agricultural products, majority of our barley, good number of hops, it's kind of like that trickle-down effect, it effects us, it effects more than just the brewers, said Francis.

Francis will be representing all small Idaho breweries in Washington, D.C.

Hundreds of other supporters will be there as well to meet with legislators on the issue.
