BOISE -- More than 300 Boise-area families participated Saturday in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association's Muscle Walk at Century Link Arena.

The 2013 Boise Muscle Walk, presented by bodybuilding.com brings the community together to help pay tribute to, and raise funds for children and adults served by MDA throughout Southern Idaho.

The money raised by teams helps support local muscular dystrophy health care services, educational outreach, and research to find treatments and cures for Idaho residents living with and affected by the disease.

This gives our families the people living with muscle disease the opportunity to fight back and make a difference in the cause. This is really the biggest way they can help MDA find a cure, local MDA Executive Director Autumn Hume said.

These muscle walks are the largest event of its kind in the United States.

There are more than 160 Walks throughout the nation, with Walks scheduled from January to April.
