MERIDIAN -- Fire crews worked early Wednesday morning to extinguish a fire at an unoccupied Meridian home near McMillan Road and Red HorseRoad around 1 a.m.

The two-alarm fire broke out near the Saguaro Hills subdivision on Joshua Tree Drive in north Meridian.

Fire departments from Boise, Eagle, and Meridian fought the flames. According to Deputy Chief Chris Amenn of the Meridian Fire Dept., about 25 percent of the home sustained major damage.

Amenn says the Meridian Fire Dept. committed all on-call companies to the fire.

The fire went to a second-alarm right away, and it was because all of our companies were committed and we needed reserves to back us up, Amenn said.

Authorities continue to investigate the fire.
