NAMPA -- The Tuesday afternoon downpour in the Treasure Valley had the Nampa Public Library feeling a little water logged when rain started dripping through the roof on to a shelf with more than 700 books.

Library Director Mark Rose says luckily less than a dozen books were damaged thanks to the fast acting work of staff and visitors. Patrons just jumped in and started us help move books of the shelves and were bringing in baskets and we just had everybody in here working in a short amount of time and getting all the books out of danger.

Rose says a roofer come out Wednesday to make some repairs, but says this isn't the first time the library has had to deal with a leaky roof.

He says he's just glad it happened in the afternoon when people were there to help.

There's no estimated cost of damage at this time.
