BOISE A 21-year-old man accused of abusing his girlfriend s 18-month-old daughter has been charged with first-degree murder after the girl died from her injuries.
Alai'ja Freedom Corbin was hospitalized on Oct. 8 with head injuries after paramedics responded to her Boise home.
Her babysitter, Jordan Everhart, was arrested and initially charged with felony injury to a child. That charge has since been upgraded to first-degree murder, according to court records.
An emergency room doctor said a CT scan of the girl showed new and old bleeding in her brain.
Police say Everhart claimed a dog knocked over the girl, but police only found two 20-pound puppies in the residence.
Everhart is due back in court on Nov. 18 for a preliminary hearing. He remains in the Ada County Jail on $500,000 bond.
