CALDWELL - An 81-year-old man died at the hospital after a crash in Canyon County Sunday afternoon.

The sheriff's office says the three-vehicle crash happened just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 20/26 and Midland Boulevard.

Paramedics arriving on scene found four people injured, including the man who later died. All four were taken area hospitals.

Deputies say the crash happened when the driver of a Ford Escape failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and pulled in front of a Toyota Tundra pickup.

The Toyota then struck a Chevy minivan head-on.

The driver of the Ford, described as an 81-year-old man from Middleton, was taken to the hospital where he later died. His female passenger was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The man's name has not been released, pending notificication of family members.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash, but says alcohol is not believed to have played a role.
