KUNA A major road construction project is expected to start Tuesday, May 27 in Kuna and last until the middle of July.

The Ada County Highway District says motorists can expect delays along West Avalon Street and North Bridge Avenue between School Avenue and Main Street. This section of the road will be closed to northbound traffic. A detour is available by traveling east onto West Shortline Street, and then connecting to Swan Falls Road.

ACHD will be installing asphalt pathway and extruded curb on the north side of Avalon Street and both sides of Bridge Avenue. The bridge railing will be replaced, improvements will be made to Avalon/Shortline/Bridge and Bridge/Main intersections, and a rectangular rapid flashing beacon will be installed at the pedestrian crossing north of the bridge.

Starting June 12, southbound traffic along North Bridge Avenue can expect a gravel driving surface until the road is repaved toward the end of the project.

The project is being done in two phases: Phase 1 will complete work on the west side of the road; Phase 2 will complete work on the east side of the road.

Motorists are urged to avoid the construction area wherever possible.
