BOISE -- Boise Police say a man suspected of purse snatching has been arrested thanks to the assistance of some alert Walmart employees.
Jimmy Leytham, 58, of Kuna, was booked into the Ada County Jail Thursday morning on felony charges of grand theft and fraudulent use of a financial transaction card.
Police say they got a call Monday that a purse had been stolen from a shopping cart at the Walmart at 8300 West Overland Road. A woman told officers she accidentally left her purse in the cart when she brought it back to the front of the store. Within minutes she realized she left her purse and went back to get it, but it was gone. The purse had not been turned into the store.
With the assistance of store employees, police were able to put together a description of a man seen leaving the store with the purse. They say the thief tried used some of the credit cards in the purse after the theft.
Leytham was identified as a suspect and Ada County prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest.
On Thursday, Walmart employees recognized Leytham who was back in their store and contacted police, who arrested him.
