NAMPA Two people have been arrested after a high-speed chase in Canyon County last night.

According to Nampa Police, just before midnight an officer tried to stop a blue 1982 Datsun pickup that was seen weaving as it entered Interstate 84 at Northside Boulevard and had broken taillights. The truck started to pull over but then the driver sped up and fled westbound on I-84.

Officers pursued the truck which exited the interstate at milepost 33 and then went west on Karcher Road. Police say the driver reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour during the pursuit. Deputies with the Canyon County Sheriff's Office and the Owyhee County Sheriff s Office joined in the chase.

When the truck got to Apricot Lane, it went through a residential area and then a farm field. The driver came back onto Apricot Lane, turned south on 2nd Street and then lost control, striking a fence at the intersection of 2nd Street and Linda Lane. A man and woman jumped out of the truck and fled on foot.

Residents heard the commotion and helped police find the driver and his female passenger. The woman ran into a home on 2nd Street where she was arrested without incident.

The male driver ran into a home on Linda Lane that belonged to a family member. He hid there for a short time before surrendering to police.

The male driver is identified as 42-year-old Kevin Wages of Wilder. He is charged with felony eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, littering, failure to purchase a driver s license and an outstanding warrant out of Canyon County.

His female passenger is 20-year-old Ashley Zuniga of Nampa. She was charged with obstructing and delaying a police officer. Both were taken to the Canyon County Jail.
