TWIN FALLS -- The former Minidoka County sheriff has agreed to pay just over $950 in restitution after pleading guilty to misuse of public funds for personal fuel purchases charged to the county.

The Times-News reports Kevin Halverson agreed to pay $400 for the fuel purchases and $550 for the county's investigative costs.

Halverson resigned as part of his guilty plea. He has acknowledged using a county credit card to put gas in the car of former county employee, Alicia Daniel.

Daniel made an initial appearance in District Court Tuesday on a felony forgery charge. Prosecutors say she falsified her time cards while working at the driver's license bureau, claiming work or sick time while she was spending time with Halverson.

Defense attorney Joseph Filicetti says Daniel will give her version of events at her trial in February.
