McCall, Idaho The first snowfall of the season fell this week on the mountains of Valley County.

At first look, about a 2-inch dusting was visible from the Bluebird Chair webcam atop Brundage Mountain Tuesday.

Brundage Mountain Director of Sales and Marketing, Jared Montague said the snowfall is a bit unusual because it doesn t typically show up until about the first week of October or those last days of September.

It s actually good to see the weather come and Mother Nature works that way. That s a good thing, said Montague.

Montague tells KTVB that the Bluebird Chair is located at 7,640 feet and 2 inches seemed to fall earlier in the day. Sadly that snow then started to melt away, but later as the rain came, it brought with it more snowfall at higher elevations.

That means the lifts at the base of Brundage are still bare. However, Montague said skiers and boarders are still excited.

When summer is here people forget about skiing, and then all of a sudden the fall comes, he said.

Montague said the National Weather Service forecast calls for a chance of snow each day through Thursday, and that could bring upwards of 7 inches of new snow.

However Idaho s weather can change in a moment s notice, so Montague said it s a bit early to expect the snow to stick around.
