MOSCOW -- A northern Idaho man who strangled and beat his girlfriend has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that 32-year-old Ryan J. Bryson of Moscow was sentenced Friday in 2nd District Court and must serve three years before becoming eligible for parole.
Bryson in January pleaded guilty to attempted strangulation and aggravated battery, both felonies.
Prosecutors say the victim went to Bryson's apartment in July to confront him about another women. Police say Bryson hit the woman with a .38-caliber revolver when she threatened to call friends and attempted to strangle her.
Police say Bryson also stomped on her chest and broke her cellphone and tried to make her undress and cover herself in garbage bags while threatening to kill her.
