NAMPA -- Nampa's new public safety building is being recognized with a prestigious certification.

The Hugh Nichols Public Safety Building will be awarded the LEED Green Building Certification.

LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

The building, which opened last April, is the headquarters for the city's police and fire departments.

LEED certified buildings save money for taxpayers, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the community.
