BOISE -- The Idaho State Historical Society is hoping to make hunger -- history.

On Friday night, they held the third annual Escaping Hunger, Fueling Field Trips food drive and fundraiser.

Local celebrities, including KTVB's own Jim Duthie, were locked into cells at the Old Idaho Penitentiary to raise food and money donations for the Idaho Foodbank and a scholarship fund for Idaho Schools' field trips.

Visitors could donate to either parole the celebrity or keep them behind bars longer.

The main purpose is to bring awareness that January is a month where we see a lot of drop off in giving as far as the food bank goes, said Amber Beierle with the Old Idaho Penitentiary

The night's event raised roughly $3,200 and 800 cans of food.
