NAMPA -- Authorities say a fast-moving house fire destroyed the inside of a Nampa rental unit and killed several small puppies Friday morning.

Firefighters say two people were inside the home on 5th Avenue North when the fire started at approximately 7:14 a.m.

Both escaped without injuries.

Deputy Chief Doug Strosnider said the renters worked with firefighters to save three puppies from the smoke and flames. Firefighters used oxygen masks to revive the animals.

However, four puppies didn't survive.

Firefighters continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
