POST FALLS, Idaho -- A former Idaho drug dealer who spent 16 years in prison is thankful for the chance to remake his life.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports Bobby Wilhelm has written a book documenting his experiences in and out of prison.

But Wilhelm and others say he's reformed, working his way into management at a local car lot where he put his sales skills to good use.

In Bobby Convict: School of Hard Knocks, Wilhelm boasts of crossing paths with mafia bosses and others.

Among his supporters is Idaho Rep. state Bob Nonini, himself arrested in 1983 on a cocaine charge that was later dismissed.

Wilhelm asked Nonini, now a state Senator-elect, to speak at his third parole hearing seven years ago -- the one where he was released.
