Meridian A fund has been set up for the Meridian family who lost everything they own in a house fire Tuesday.

It happened about 10:30 in the morning at a home in the 2500 block of E. Green Canyon Drive in the Thousand Springs subdivision.

A family of four was renting the home, but had no renter s insurance.

At the time of the fire, the mother and her little girl were home. They were alerted by a jogger that the garage was on fire and they safety got out.

The fire completely engulfed the home by the time firefighters from Meridian, Boise and even Kuna arrived on scene.

The President of the Thousand Springs homeowners association set up the fund for the family at the Bank of Cascades in the name of the Mineager family.

Since the fire, the family has received help from the Meridian burnout fund as well as the Red Cross. Neighbors said, the family is staying with nearby relatives, but many are still looking for ways to help.

Sunday, Meridian Fire Deputy Chief Perry Palmer said the fire started in the engine compartment of the car as it was parked in the garage.

The cost in damages totals more than $175,000.
