CALDWELL -- A Caldwell man who admitted to killing his wife has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Court records show 50-year-old Chris Stone pleaded guilty last month to shooting his 32-year-old estranged wife Florence Stone last August.

Chris originally claimed that he acted in self-defense after Florence stabbed him in the stomach. Thursday morning, he admitted in court that he stabbed himself.

According to court documents, the couple was going through a second divorce and Florence was picking up the last of her belongings from their home when an argument began.

She was shot twice in the back of the head and neck at close range after she said she only married him for a green card. Her body was later found in her minivan.

Chris Stone, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, must serve at least nine years before he is eligible for parole.
