BOISE Super Bowl Sunday means football, funny commercials and snacking. To better understand the snacking side of the day, Albertson s created the Snack Down Survey to find out the most popular foods for game day tables.

For Boise fans, dips and spreads topped the list for the second year in a row, coming in with 47 percent of fans having them on the table.

Chips and salty snacks came in at 16 percent while chicken wings will show up 12 percent of the time. And the snack staple pizza will show up at 11 percent of Super Bowl parties.

Boise fans were also whipping up the unusual for treats, like frog-eye salad and chocolate covered crickets.

Also on the menu for survey takers were silkworm larvae, meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting, moose tacos, canta-loreos (Oreos with the cream replaced by cantaloupe) and yak burgers.

The nationwide survey was conducted online in December among people 25 and older who would be preparing some Super Bowl snack.
