BOISE A man pulled from the New York Canal in Boise was recovering after a dramatic rescue Monday afternoon.

Boise Police say the man, identified only as Mr. Martinez, took a turn for the worse Friday and died Saturday.

A Boise Police officer and Boise firefighter were able to get Martinez out of the canal Monday. Paramedics were able to revive him before taking him to the hospital.

Police didn't know how Martinez got into the water. KTVB was told he was a transient but does have some family in the area.

The Ada County Coroner is expected to release more details.
