MCCALL, Idaho -- The McCall Winter Carnival kicked off last weekend and for many people it was a chance to get out of the inversion and get some sun.

Carnival organizers say businesses are reporting record sales, estimating 20 percent more than in previous years.

They say vendors had to order more food because they went through a full week's worth in the first weekend.

Winter Carnival Chair McKenzie Christensen says a lack of snow is not affecting this year's carnival.

For all the people traveling out of the valley I think just getting a glimpse of the sun is something they were really looking forward to after being in the inversion so long, so we couldn't have asked for better weather, she said.

The McCall Winter Carnival goes until Sunday.
