CALDWELL -- A little Chihuahua mix has just moved into his foster home, after he was shot last week near Lake Lowell

Plato, the Chihuahua is healing from his injuries, after a vet removed several pellets from his 15-pound body.

Unfortunately, the Canyon County Animal Shelter says they see this type of thing far too often.

This is actually really common. We get these shot dogs at least once a month. We get cats that are shot probably a little more often, said Andrea Williams, who is the Canyon County Animal Shelter Foster Coordinator and Vet Tech.

If Plato's foster parent decides she cannot keep him, he'll go up for adoption next month.
