TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- The trial of a south-central Idaho man indicted on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of a 3-year-old boy who was in his care has been postponed to June.

Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs tells The Times News that 20-year-old Lane Alan Buddenhagen's attorney needs time to meet with an expert witness who is not available until then.

Buddenhagen waived his right to a speedy trial on Jan. 4.

Police say the boy was injured on Aug. 6 and died on Aug. 7 at a Boise hospital. Buddenhagen was arrested the next day on suspicion of felony injury to a child.

Doctors told police the boy suffered severe head trauma when he was alone with Buddenhagen, who was engaged to marry the boy's mother.
