'Captain America' sequel arrives on digital HD this month, Blu-ray and DVD in September.
Captain America needs a break.
First Chris Evans' star-spangled superhero gets encased in ice for 70 years (see: Captain America: The First Avenger) and then has to fight off an alien invasion (see: The Avengers). At least Uncle Sam still likes him — well, for some of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, that is.
Cap not only faces the Winter Soldier (aka his old pal Bucky, played by Sebastian Stan) but also the federal government and S.H.I.E.L.D. head man Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) in the blockbuster sequel. Winter Soldier is available on digital 3-D, digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on Aug. 19, and arrives on 3-D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD Sept. 9.
A deleted scene from Winter Soldier showcases what happens when Steve Rogers is named Public Enemy No. 1, with Pierce scrambling his forces to take him down because he has info on the death of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) — though not everybody in S.H.I.E.L.D. is on board, like Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp). Cap does find a way to put one over on the old guy, though.
The bonus features for the film, which also stars Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Anthony Mackie as Falcon, also include a behind-the-scenes featurette, bloopers and an audio commentary from directors Anthony and Joe Russo.
