MOSCOW-- The Idaho Vandals announced on Monday that Gordy Shaw will take over as the new run game coordinator and offensive line coach. Shaw returns to Moscow after spending a year as the defensive coordinator for the Vandals back in 1989. Prior to his new position, Shaw spent three years as the offensive line coach at the University of Hawaii.
“I’m real excited we could get a coach of his caliber,” said Idaho coach Robb Akey as he announced Shaw’s addition to his 2012 staff. “He knows what it takes to have success here. He’s a great teacher; a great person. He’s going to fit in very, very well.”
When Shaw was the defensive coordinator at Idaho, he helped coached the Vandals to a 9-3 record and Big Sky Championship.
The Vandals start Spring practice on Thursday. The Spring Game is scheduled for April 20 at 6 p.m.
