Idaho senior forward Stephen Madison scored a career-high 42 points in a 89-88 loss at Utah Valley on Saturday.
Madison went 16-of-21 from the floor and 8-of-11 at the free-throw line. His 16 field goals made were the most by a Vandal since Steve Weist set the school-record with 20 back in 1973.
“Stephen played a whale of a game,” Idaho head coach Don Verlin said. “He’s worked hard on his basketball game and he’s going to graduate this spring. He’s done everything he’s supposed to do as a student-athlete and I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
Madison's 42 points are tied for third most in school history. In addition, it was the highest point total by a Vandal since 1993.
The 22-year-old is currently averaging 19.2 points per game this season, the eighth highest single-season mark ever by an Idaho player.
