MOSCOW, Idaho -- University of Idaho senior football player Ken McRoyal was killed early Sunday morning in California. Details of his death are not available.
The cause of death has not been announced. The school's athletic website does not list an age for McRoyal, who was scheduled to be a senior.
“It’s a devastating loss,” coach Robb Akey said. “We’ve lost a brother, a teammate, a family member. But, more importantly, a momma lost her son today."
“All of our prayers go to the family – that they can be strong in their healing from this tragedy.”
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Kenny,” Director of Athletics Rob Spear said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
McRoyal played in eight games for the Vandals last season, catching six passes for 35 yards. Prior to last season, he transferred from El Camino Junior College in Torrance, Calif.
