Steelies come up short as Colorado evens playoff series at one game apiece

BOISE-- The Idaho Steelheads saw their best-of-seven series become tied at one game apiece, as the Steelies suffered a 3-1 loss to the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night.

With the game scoreless at the end of period one, the Eagles came out of intermission on fire, and broke the tie on a Kevin Young slap shot that beat Idaho goaltender Josh Robinson. The Eagles added to the lead less than three and a half minutes later when Trent Daavatilla scored on a backhanded shot to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Idaho tried to rally in the third period, and came to within one goal when David de Kastrozza scored on a breakaway, making the score 2-1 in favor of Colorado. But that was as close as the home team got. The Eagles added an empty net goal as the clock ran down to ensure a 3-1 victory.

Robinson played well despite the loss, stopping 33-of-35 shots while in net for Idaho.

Tied at one game apiece, the series now shifts to Colorado for Games 3, 4, and 5 starting on Tuesday night.
