Steelheads fall in Game 4 thriller

Stockton, CA-- The Idaho Steelheads were in prime position to tie Friday night's contest against Stockton with 1.4 seconds on the clock in the third period.

Trailing 3-2, Idaho was awarded a penalty shot when a Stockton defender purposely knocked his own net off its moorings. Austin Smith took the penalty shot, but was snuffed when Olivier Roy got his blocker in front of the puck. Stockton held on to win Game 4 of the ECHLWestern Conference Finals, 3-2, to take a three games to one lead in the series.

Idaho has to win Saturday night to keep the best-of-seven series going and return home to Boise.

The Steelheads trailed 2-1 early in the third, but were able to tie the game when Brett Robinson found the back of the net for the second time of the night. The game remained tied 2-2 until Maxime Boisclair scored with just over two minutes to play. Idaho tried to rally and force overtime, but Roy was able to turn aside a number of shots to protect the lead.

Game 5 is set for 8:30 p.m. (MT) Saturday night in Stockton. Idaho must win to force a Game 6 back in Boise.
