Rookie scores game-winner in professional debut for Steelheads

BOISE-- The Idaho Steelheads got a game-winning goal from rookie Chase Schaber in his professional debut, as the Steelheads beat the Gwinnett Gladiators 5-3 on Friday night.

With the game tied at 3-3 with just over five minutes left, Schaber collected a loose puck and fired a shot that beat Gladiator goalie Louis Domingue. Idaho tacked on an empty-net goal to make the victory complete.

Austin Smith and Scott Todd had two points each, while Jeremie Blain registered two assists in the win.

Steelheads goalkeeper Josh Robinson picked up his 23rd win of the season, stopping 28-of-31 Gladiator shots on goal.

The Steelheads will wrap up a nine-game homestand on Saturday when they host Gwinnett once again.
