Boise State to unveil statue of Lyle Smith Saturday

BOISE -- Boise State will unveil a statue of legendary head football coach Lyle Smith prior to Saturday's home-opener against Washington State.

Smith, who turned 100 years old back in March, is the school's all-time wins leader. He served as the head coach at Boise State Junior College from 1947-1950, then again from 1952-1967. He missed three games during the 1950 season and the entire 1951 campaign to serve in the military.

The statue will be located near the Allen Noble Hall of Fame and look similar to the photo above.
