Boise State moves up in AP, coaches polls

BOISE - After holding on to beat Colorado State Saturday night, the undefeated Boise State football team moved up one spot to No. 14 in the both the AP Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll.

The Broncos (5-0, 3-0 Mountain West) were ranked No. 15 in both polls last week.

Saturday's game appeared to be a blowout, with Boise State holding a 28-3 lead early in the fourth quarter. But the Ram engineered a wild comeback when they recovered two onside kicks and scored three unanswered touchdowns in the final minutes of the game. The Broncos were able to hold on, winning the game 28-23.

The Broncos are the second-highest ranked Group of Five team, behind No. 11 Houston (6-1, 1-1 American Athletic). The Cougars, which lost to Navy on Oct. 8, will likely need the Midshipmen to lose at least twice in conference play to to have a shot at the conference championship. Navy is currently ranked No. 24 in the AP poll and No. 25 in the coaches poll.

The top-ranked Group of Five conference champion gets an automatic birth to one of the New Years Six bowl games.

Western Michigan, also a G5 team, is ranked No. 20 in both polls.
