BOISE -- Former Rocky Mountain baseball player Mason Smith worked out for the Arizona Diamondbacks at their spring training facility on Thursday.
According to Mason's father, Tim Smith, the center fielder put on an impressive show in batting practice, launching 11 home runs throughout his five rounds in the cage.
Smith is ranked as one of the top high school baseball prospects in the entire country and is making the rounds to visit big league organizations prior to the Major League Baseball Draft, which runs June 6-8.
Smith has already worked out in California for the Minnesota Twins and at Turner Field in Atlanta for the Braves.
He now heads to Seattle to showcase his skills for the Mariners before returning to California to wrap up his pre-draft workouts with the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Angels.
