BOISE-- On Monday the NCAA released its list of host sites for the men's basketball tournaments in 2014 and 2015, and once again Boise and Boise State University were not on that list. The tournament is not scheduled to return to the City of Trees in 2013 either. Boise State hasn't hosted an NCAA tournament round since 2009.
By comparison, four other cities in the Northwest will host rounds of the tournament over the next three years, including Salt Lake City in 2013, Spokane in 2014, and both Seattle and Portland in 2015.
Over the last 20 years, Boise State has hosted NCAA tournament rounds eight times, including some exciting games. Most basketball fans remember when Tyus Edney drove the length of the court and hit a buzzer beating shot to move his UCLA Bruins past Missouri back in 1995. Many Boise residents also remember when Hampton upset Iowa State back in 2001.
As of now, it is unknown when, if ever, the tournament will return to Boise.
