BOISE-- The Boise Hawks (11-13) dropped their fifth-straight game on Sunday, falling to the Tri-City Dust Devils, 3-1, in ten innings.
The Dust Devils got a two-out, infield single from Mike Tauchman in the top of the tenth inning, scoring two runs to give Tri-City a 3-1 lead.
The Hawks failed to get a runner on in the bottom half of the inning, as Tri-City reliever Bruce Kern got three-straight outs to preserve the win.
Boise’s pitching, which had been struggling as of late, was solid on Sunday. Starter Paul Blackburn pitched five innings, allowing just one run on five hits. Relievers Rob Zastryzny and Andrew McKirahan combined for three innings of scoreless ball without giving up a hit.
The Hawks will host the Dust Devils again on Monday night, before setting off on an eight-game road trip.
