BOISE -- It's rivalry week on the hardwood, as the Boise State Broncos (4-0) and University of Idaho Vandals (3-3) are set to meet at CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
The Broncos have been have gotten out to a hot start, beating opponents by an average of 31 points. On Saturday, the Broncos beat the University of New Orleans 100-80, while the Vandals lost to Columbia University, 65-60. Because of the Broncos' dominance, a win over Idaho might be expected by fans.
However, Boise State Head Coach Leon Rice said on Monday that rivalry games are different, and nothing should be taken for granted.
"It really is the cliches about throw out the records, throw out the stats, I mean they're just battles, and our guys have to understand how important of a game this is, and we have in the past, and so I definitely know we approach it the right way," said Rice.
Back in September, Boise State and University of Idaho agreed to a two-year contract with CenturyLink Arena, so this means that both teams will meet on the same floor again on November 26, 2014.
Last year, the Broncos beat the Vandals, 78-68. Boise State leads the series with an overall record vs. Idaho of 52-35.
