BOISE-- Chicago Cubs’ first-round draft pick Kris Bryant belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the third for the Boise Hawks in his home debut, as the Hawks rolled past the Spokane Indians, 9-1, in front of a sell-out crowd at Memorial Stadium.
Bryant, who had just one hit before the long ball, joined the Hawks while they were on the road at Eugene. He finished Friday’s game 1-4, with three RBI.
Five Boise pitchers combined to limit the Indians to just one run on five hits.
The Hawks will host the Indians again on Saturday in a never-been-done before morning game. First pitch is set for 10:00 a.m. due to the Boise Music Festival going on next door to Memorial Stadium.
