BOISE-- The Idaho Steelheads seem to be picking up steam heading into the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs, taking two straight from Stockton, capped off by a 4-3 win on Saturday night. Idaho kept its momentum going early, and lit the lamp first in the first period when Aaron Lewicki beat Olivier Roy to take the lead. Jacob Cepis put the home team up by two when he controlled a rebound and beat Roy with a backhand shot. Stockton responded with a goal in the opening frame, but Idaho kept the momentum going in the second when Ian Lowe chased down a loose puck and scored on a break away to go up 3-1. The Thunder made the game close in the third period on a pair of goals to cut the lead to one. But Steelheads net minder Bryan Hince was able to turn down the rally, and ended the night with 30 saves in the victory. The win wrapped up the regular season for the Steelheads. They will now face Ontario in the opening round of the playoffs. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday night at CenturyLink Arena in Boise. Game 2 will be Wednesday night in Boise.
