ANCHORAGE, AK -- The Idaho Steelheads offensive struggles continued Saturday night as the Alaska Aces shut them out in a 2-0 victory in game two of their Kelly Cup Playoff series.
Idaho goalie Jerry Kuhn was busy in the first period turning away all 15 shots he saw to keep the game scoreless after one period of play.
Early in the second period Kael Mouillierat was careless with the puck deep inside the Steelies zone and his turnover turned into the games first goal.
Moments later, Mouillierat maybe had the Steelies best opportunity of the night to score, but was robbed on the near post by Alaska goalie Gerry Coleman.
Idaho had 17 shots on goal in the second period, more shots than they had in all of game one, but Coleman didn't let one by.
The Aces beat Kuhn one more time with 30 second remaining in the second period to take a 2-0 lead and that would be the final.
The Steelheads are now down two games to none in the best-of-seven series as it shifts back to Boise for game three on Wednesday, game four on Friday, and, if necessary, game five on Saturday.
The puck drops are just after 7 p.m. on Wednesday night at Qwest Arena.
