BOISE--  The Idaho Steelheads couldn't close out the defending Kelly Cup champion Alaska Aces on Friday, as the Aces scored two goals in the final period to win 3-2.  The winning goal came with just over a minute left in regulation when Brian Swanson redirected a Chad Anderson shot to beat goalie Jerry Kuhn.

Idaho started the game off with a Stephen Schultz goal in the first period, but Alaska countered with power play goal in the second period to tie the game up.  The Steelheads took the lead again in the third when Cody Purves redirected a goal.  But the lead wouldn't last, as Idaho gave up two third period goals in the loss.

The same two teams will face each other again on Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.
