BOISE—Despite being outshot 49-16, the Idaho Steelheads weathered the storm and defeated the Colorado Eagles, 4-1, on Friday night. Pat Nagle was huge between the pipes for the Steelheads, stopping 48-of-49 shots on goal.
Nagle faced 19 shots in a frantic first period, but managed to turn them all away. He was rewarded by the effort when Brett Robinson redirected a shot on goal that found the back of the net, as Idaho took a 1-0 lead into the second period.
But Colorado responded in the second with a redirection by Kyle Ostrow that beat Nagle to tie the game. Idaho answered less than four minutes later when Tommy Grant backhanded a shot past Adam Brown to go up 2-1.
The Steelheads continued the attack in the third period, with Charlie Dodero scoring his first professional goal and Luke Judson scoring an empty-netter to close out the game.
Nagle scored his 14th win of the season in goal for the Steelheads with the victory over Colorado.
The Steelheads will host the Eagles again on Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.
