BOISE -- The NHL is coming to Boise.
Boise's CenturyLink Arena will play host to a preseason training camp for the Dallas Stars in September. This is the first time an NHL team has held its training camp in Idaho.
The Stars will also hold an NHL exhibition game against the Minnesota Wild on September 25, 2012, in Boise. The last time there was an NHL preseason game in Boise was 1997. The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings played the inaugural hockey game in the downtown Boise arena.
The Stars have been the Steelheads’ NHL affiliate since 2005. The two teams were also affiliated during the 2003-04 season, Idaho’s first in the ECHL. Many Steelheads players have gone onto join the NHL teams, including the Stars, after their time in Idaho.
