BOISE-- The Idaho Steelheads found themselves in a hole that they couldn't climb out of Saturday night and lost to the Colorado Eagles 5-1. The victory gave the Eagles two wins in the three-game series at CenturyLink Arena.
Colorado came out shooting hot, and jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals by forward Kevin Ulanski. The Steelheads finally got on the board late in the first when defenseman Derek Matheson ripped a wrist shot past goalie Kyle Jones from the blue line. As soon as the lamp lit up, fans showered the ice with stuffed toys as part of a "Toys for Tots" charity event.
That was the last positive note for the home team on the night, as Colorado scored two more goals in the second period, and one in the third. Ulanski ended the night with a hat trick, while Riley Nelson chipped in three points in the victory.
The Steelheads will next play on the road at Stockton on Friday night.
