The New Orleans Hornets new head coach, Monty Williams, announced Wednesday that former Idaho Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates will be a part of his new staff.  Williams also named Mike Malone and James Borrego to his staff.

Gates leaves the Sacramento Kings after just one year on the bench to join Williams and his staff.   In a press release from the Hornets, head coach Monty Williams said, “I’m thrilled to have Mike, Bryan and James on board.  They all have great experience, tireless work ethics and I believe they’ll bring a lot of fresh perspectives to the staff. I’m looking forward to working with all of them and excited to see how all of our different insight will come together to help this team reach its potential. I think this is the start of a great combination of strengths.”

Bryan worked for 12 very successful seasons with the Idaho Stampede before joining the Sacramento Kings staff in 2009.  He was a 2-time D-League Coach of the Year winner and helped the Stampede to their only NBA Development League title back in 2008.
