Rocky, BK, Canyon Ridge claim state golf titles

IDAHO FALLS -- The Rocky Mountain boys defended their 5A state golf title, while the Canyon Ridge girls won their first ever state golf title.

BOYS

The Grizzlies ran away with their second 5A state championship in as many years, beating second place Madison by 48 strokes. Juniors Sam Tidd and Carson Barry finished first and second respectively, while Jake Slocum tied for third.

Eagle and Coeur d'Alene rounded out the top four.

In 4A, the five-time defending champions Twin Falls were dethroned by Bishop Kelly. The Knights finished 22 strokes above second place Minico and 35 strokes over the Bruins. Sam Goodman was the4A medalist, two stokes over Minico's Chance Mosley and five strokes over teammate Nick Roberts.

Kellogg claimed the 3A state championship over five-time defending state champion Buhl by a whopping 56 strokes. 

Kimberly and Homedale, the academic state champions with a cumulative GPA of 3.632, rounded out the top four.

Fruitland's Jake O'Neil finished second individually.

GIRLS

In 5A, Centennial finished in second place, two strokes behind champion Highland. Dixie State-bound senior Kaitlyn Deeble (157) finished in third place, two strokes behind Meridian's Kaitlynn Flemming (155).

Timberline, who finished in third place, won the academic state championship with an average cumulative GPA of 3.877.

in 4A, Canyon Ridge trailed conference rival Twin Falls by two strokes after round one, but came back to claim the state title by five strokes, thanks in part to sophomore Bailey Henley, who claimed the individual championship. This is the Riverhawks' first state golf title.

Bishop Kelly finished in third place, followed by Idaho Falls in fourth.

In 3A, Buhl claimed their first state golf title in 27 years, beating Kellogg by 11 strokes. Buhl sophomore Kylie Crossland claimed the individual championship.

Weiser and Kimberly rounded out the top four.
