KEIZER -- The Ontario High School baseball team beat Hidden Valley 4-2 on Saturday at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer, claiming the 4A state championship.
The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead, plating all four runs in the first three innings.
Tony Machuca started the scoring for Ontario with an RBI single to right in the first, then Tanner Alexander doubled to lead off the second and later made it 2-0 on a wild pitch.
In the third inning Brady Baker brought another run home with an RBI double to center, as Alexander added another with a sacrifice fly to left.
At the same time, Ontario starting pitcher Zayne Sather was cruising for the Tigers. He surrendered just three hits and two runs over five innings before turning the ball over to Baker with a two-run lead.
From there, Baker faced just two over the minimum, striking out four of the eight batters he saw.
Ontario finishes the season 21-7 overall.
