Hawks score five in first inning, sweep Salem-Keizer

KEIZER, Ore--The Boise Hawks picked up their third straight win on Friday night, beating the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 8-1, on the road.The three wins is the first road sweep for the Hawks of Salem-Keizer.

The Hawks started quickly, scoring five runs in the first inning.They added runs in the third, fifth, and ninth innings to pull away for the victory.Kevin Encarnacion was perfect for the Hawks, finishing 5-5 at the plate with a double, a home run, and two runs batted in.Justin Marra chipped in three more RBI in a 1-2 plate performance.

Paul Blackburn picked up his second win of the season, pitching five innings without allowing a run.Blackburn only allowed one hit and struck out two batters, lowering his earned run average to 3.35 on the season.

The Hawks continue their 11-game road trip at Hillsboro on Saturday.
