Hawks fall to Indians in extra innings

BOISE --The Boise Hawks took the Spokane Indians to extra innings on Monday, but lost in the eleventh when Spokane scored three runs to take the 5-2 victory.

Spokane got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Ryan Cordell added to the lead in the eighth when he hit a long homerun over the left field wall to go up 2-0.

But the Hawks managed to rally in the bottom half of the inning. Kris Bryant hit an RBIdouble down the left field line to cut the lead in half. He was able to advance to third on a ground ball after that, and was able to score on a Yasiel Balaguert sacrifice fly to tie the game.

Neither team could manage a run in the tenth, but the Indians took the lead for good in the eleventh on an RBIsingle and a Chris Garia two-RBItriple.

The Hawks couldn't find an answer in the bottom half of the inning, and the side was retired in order.

Boise will host Spokane in the series finale on Tuesday evening.
